About

Denis Bergeron is an independent performing arts manager since 1992 supporting the artists by guiding them in the development of their career and developing their creations across the country and abroad.

He also offers his guidance in the form of mentorship towards administrators of artistic organizations as we all as offering workshops to ensure a new generation of cultural workers in the field of management and tours organization.

His ability to converse and interact with the public, his presence, his voice and his ease to be on stage or in front of a camera allows him to be a great host.

Helping emerging artists to develop, accompanying established artists in the continuum of their works as well as ensuring preservation the artistic heritage of our artists: these objectives are fundamental to the performing arts and such is the mission of Denis Bergeron.

Combining management and dance experience, it led me in 1989 to a grant in Artist Management and Tour Direction, from the Canada Council for the Arts, to learn all aspects of company administration and touring management. After completing my mentorship with impresario Uriel G. Luft/Atmo Productions and with the Canadian dance company Montanaro Dance, I became in 1992 an independent Agent/Manager for many Canadian dance artists booking tours in Canada, the United States, in Europe and Asia (Montanaro Danse, Dulcinée Langfelder & Cie, Sylvain Émard Danse, Howard Richard Danse, Cas Public). I often acted as a liaison between the dance companies and various government agencies and numerous Canadian Embassies /Consulates and Quebec’s Delegations abroad. I have been Director of Touring & Guest Companies at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. As of 2001, I worked as a freelancer Contract Manager at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Les FrancoFolies de Montréal and Montréal en Lumière. After a short passage at the Vancouver Dance Centre, I became Interim Managing Director of the Margie Gillis Dance Foundation as well as booking manager for the chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy of Québec City and with the Montreal music ensemble Constantinople. I have also been the first Director of bookings, in 2011, at the dance consortium Art Circulation. Later on continuing as an independent agent representing theatre, circus and music groups as well as other dance companies and dance artists. I have worked at Cirque du Soleil, with the entertainment producer Evenko with the Montreal art centre Usine C, Booking Consultant for Ballets Jazz Montreal as well as Events Producer for Cirque Éloize. I am now back as an independent consultant in the performing arts management.

As a cultural worker for over thirty-five years, I continue to be present in the dance community as a mentor, as a teacher and as a consultant in touring development for independent artists and arts organizations. I am also invited to lead workshops on the development of national and international tours, facilitator and speaker for international conferences on the management and development of the performing arts.
